All Hallows by the Tower
All Hallows by the Tower

This church, the oldest in the City of London and still in use today, is a short walk from the river.

Island on the Thames

This is a tranquil shot of the Thames, taken from an island by the lock in Staines.

Road by the Thames
Road by the Thames

You can walk from the centre of Staines for miles down the river. This stretch of the Thames is quite serene. This photograph was taken on a very warm day and shows a typical riverside scene.

Saltburn Pier (Rough Sea)
Saltburn Pier (Rough Sea)

This picture was shot on a very, very windy day. Consequently, it was exceptionally difficult to setup the camera, focus and take the shot without the camera wobbing in the wind. In the end, I got what I wanted, but the poor condition meant that the horizon was not straight, so I made a rare correction after scanning the film; I straightened the horizon!

Shooting on black and white film was perfect for conveying the dramatic starkness of this scene. This beach is by the northern coastal town of Seaham in County Durham.

St. Paul's Cathedral and Bridge Arch
St. Paul's Cathedral and Bridge Arch

A view of the much-photographed St. Paul's Cathedral in London from what I hope is a slightly different vantage point.
